Eyes in space

A 360° immersive experience in space

A project established to mesh artistic experimentation with scientific innovation. EyesinSpace’s maiden voyage invites you on a journey to roam space freely, using the astonishing Hexacam, a six-sided camera which forms an all-absorbing, endless 360° experience. EyesinSpace is about inventing and moulding tech to make the impossible, possible. We also endeavour to offer the audience a truly mesmirising, multi-sensory experience wherever we decide to take them. For this first exploration, the EyesinSpace specially developed Hexacam allows film footage to be captured from six directions simultaneously.

The collective’s film lab then seamlessly joins the
Hexacam captures to create an all immersive, endless, 360 experience. An experience in a location that, until now, the majority of the world could only dream of escaping to and travelling through freely. EyesinSpace will not limit themseves to galatic experiences, the hexacam is just one of a number of innovations the collective intend to explore and evolve to create new 360 immersive experiences in other places.

Quirkbot

A maker-toy that empowers you to create interactive projects in a instant with a easy-to-use visual programming interface. It allows for mistakes and accidents to feed back into the process and become fuel. It’s humorous engineering and innovation by play. It’s an affordable process that requires no specialised tools or prior engineering knowledge. And if you are an engineer it lets you use your knowledge of mechanics, mathematics or programming and share and explain complex concepts in a direct practical way to the rest of the team.
The Quirkbot have gone from first idea meeting to tested product and funded kickstarter in less than 10 months.

fraktalfabriken

The Fractal factory

Fraktalfabriken (The fractal factory) is a warehouse & production facility for prototyping large structures, and a virtual innovation community for visionary creations with ever changing team members. The works springs out of the principles of basic research, playing around with, materials, shapes and combinations to discover what can come out of it. For example a 17 meter tall fractal pyramid or a triangular lamp construction set. Fraktalfabriken is a place to play and grow big.

Trianglite is a lamp construction set based upon flat plastic triangles that snap in to each other, making it possible to create any kinds of shapes without prior knowledge or anything like glue or tape.

In collaboration with Strawbees we are developing a larger version of the construction set, using industry standard pipe dimensions we can scale up the strawbees creations and explore the possibilites of larger structures.

Kolossen i Frihamnen was the worlds largest Sierpinski Tetrahedron ever built, holding the guiness world record for the largest “Tetrix”. It consisted of 4096 tetrahedrons made of thin plastic sheets, in a pop-up factory hosted by Fraktalfabriken in collaboration with the annual Science Festival in Gothenburg. A total of 1200 middle school children participated in workshops where the pieces where manufactured and assembled into the larger whole.

STRAWBEES

A prototyping toy for makers of all ages

Strawbees is a construction kit based on one simple unit that lets you connect straws to each other. You stick a Strawbee into the ends of a standard quarter inch (6mm) straw to make struts and then connect them with another Strawbee.  It's a wonderful system for trial and error construction and allows you to do a lot of things impossible with other systems. With the Strawbees you can build everything from mathematical shapes like the platonic solids to mechanical birds, claws, or even huge animated snakes. Just come up with an idea and start building, or simply start building and see where you end up. With the Strawbees you can always modify things as you go, add straws, cut straws, or add new connections to get a stronger, more flexible or bigger construction. This project was successfully funded in Kickstarter.

KIDS HACK DAY

Revolutionizing education one hack at a time

Inspired by the global hackerspace movement, Kids hack day is a 1 day event providing children and their parents with a space for self-directed learning and creative expression. We believe this is best done outside of traditional schools. Kids Hack Day lets kids explore the horizons of emerging technologies, science, media, art, emotional/social intelligence, and PLAY.

A shoe lighter than air

The Nike Air Reinvented project is a magnetically levitating Air Max 1 that invites the viewer into a world of possibility and imagination.

Defying Gravity
Using a customized technique of sensors and electromagnets, the Nike AirMax 1 remains suspended in mid-air. It was showcased at Sneakers N’Stuff on January 14th 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden.

We have flight!
The Nike Air Max 1 is joystick operated! Together with Spekel, an integrated motor that allows users to control the height, width and length of the Air Max 1's movement as it travels in mid-air across the surface in a three-dimensional space.

Doki doki

An experimental digital hand-drum

We’ve taken this simple idea with the intention of pushing it to it’s limits. Doki Doki is a Japanese ideophonic word meaning excitement, or heart beat. It is also the name of our first musical controller – a unique rhythm instrument combining properties of traditional hand drums and modern technology.

Doki Doki is a highly tactile wooden digital hand-drum with five active surfaces and a built-in accelerometer. It offers a very open and experimental way of producing and performing music.

Skateboarding, hacking, and open source technologies.

Skatehack is an exploration of skateboarding, hacking and open source technologies. It allows artists, skateboarders and designers to seek new ways of interacting with city spaces through the integration of technology, sound and live performance.

Like a skilled computer hacker who modifies code, skateboarders hack their surroundings, transforming park benches, ledges, stairs and handrails into a platform for new possibilities. Skateboarding and hacking are innovative practices which question traditional ideas about public space and ownership.
